12/14/2010 8:42:06 PM - While there appears to be a possibility that Brett Favre has played the final game of his NFL career, he was informed Tuesday that he does not have nerve damage in his shoulder and will not immediately be considered a candidate for injured reserve.
The quarterback's NFL-record streak of 297 consecutive regular-season starts came to an end Monday night as he sat out because of a sprained throwing shoulder and the subsequent numbness that resulted.
The Vikings' 21-3 loss to the New York Giants eliminated them from the playoffs, meaning there is little reason for Favre to play again. Favre has said he will retire after this season.
